If your child is planning a future trip to Washington Family Ranch or is here right now, we want you to have the information you need to rest easy while he or she is away. There are many activities at camp in which your child may be participating. Whether they are challenged on the ropes course, playing in the skate park or spending time in the game room, their safety is our top concern.
What to Bring:
- Please bring your own pillow and bedding, either sheets and blanker or sleeping bag. WFR is not able to provide guests with bedding at this time. Thanks for understanding!
- Toiletries - Basic toiletries can be purchased at camp if forgotten.
- Seasonal clothing
— Summertime: T-shirts, shorts and a sweatshirt for the evenings. Don't forget your bathing suit and a beach towel!
— Wintertime: Warm layers as some activities are outside and some are indoors. Tennis shoes and boots for a mix of activities. Close-toed shoes are required for some events.
- Calling card - There is no cell coverage. Calling cards can also be purchased at the camp store.
- Medications - Our medical staff will be glad to help with any special needs. Please call your trip leader or ask for the Medical Director at WFR: 541-489-3100.
- Special dietary needs - We are happy to accommodate any special dietary needs from gluten-free to vegan. Please call your trip leader or our Food Services Manager at WFR: 541-489-3100.
- Spending money - The camp store has t-shirts, books and other gifts. There is also a snack bar that will be open throughout the day.
- Hangout at camp clothes
- Sunscreen and bug spray
- One themed outfit — ask your Young Life leader!
- Messy outfit (that can be thrown out)
- Camera (not a phone)
Safety
Young Life and Washington Family Ranch maintain the highest level of safety standards in operation of all our activities at camp.
All of Washington Family Ranch's challenge course elements are inspected annually by a registered Preferred Vendor Member of The Association of Challenge Course Technology. All elements are operated and supervised by our staff who have been fully trained and certified to do so, ensuring your child's comfort and safety.
Canyon's waterfront program and Canyon Cars are also facilitated by trained and experienced lifeguards and staff. Your child will be in good hands while at Washington Family Ranch.
For Summer 2022: WFR will be following state and government guidelines regarding use of masks, testing and quarantine at camp.
Accessibility
We welcome kids of all abilities to our camps. At Washington Family Ranch, all of our main buildings are accessible to strollers or wheelchairs, and we have a handful of cabins that are designed to be accessible (special housing needs may be requested by your child's trip leader).
Walkways around camp are paved. We will also do our best to help every guest participate in activities. We want every kid to have the best week of their life as they come to camp!

Sign Up for Camp
For summer and weekend camps, all spots are given out to individual Young Life areas and retreat groups. These areas and groups fill their allocated spots with students from their local town. If you are interested in attending camp or finding out how to send your child to Young Life camp, contact your local Young Life office. They might not be attending camp at Canyon, but they most likely have a trip planned to one of Young Life's other fabulous properties!
